IMDb trailers: the use of color through time

On a selection of 3649 movie-trailers, which are downloaded from Youtube, we compared date of release of the movies versus average rating by color in comparison to Wikipedia list of inventors.
At first we see that the first experiments of color in movies date from 1899. It took until Technicolor IV in 1932 till first movies appeard in color. Only around 1953 the use of color in movies really took off.
Secondly we see that the average rating of black and white movies is averagly better rated then color and color and black and white.
Thirdly is the uses of black and white in movie still a concept in use. Dough it is more a functional choice in one ore more scenes.
